What is Chris vs Cinema?

Chris vs Cinema started life as a way to document a challenge I undertook in 2009.  The challenge was to watch and review 365 films in a year, writing at least 50 words for each review.  I didn’t succeed.  I did, however, develop a fondness for this blog to the point where I decided to continue writing it.  I might not be as prolific as I was but I want to review every new film that I watch and keep a record of it.  It’s a process that helps me to write on a continual basis and I quite enjoy having a structure in place to aid in that process.

Part of the initial challenge was to watch as many of the IMDB top 250 as possible. I’ve currently seen 168 of them with 82 to go.

I’ve also got a little book of ‘1000 Essential Movies on Video’ from the lamented Neon magazine which contains a mine of classic movies and forgotten gems. I’ll note whenever I manage to tick another one off from that book.

For Christmas I received the massive ‘1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die’ tome edited by Steven Jay Schneider. I’ll note also when I manage to watch one from this book.
