Chris Warrington
I’m an English teacher in Sheffield. I’ve got credentials for writing about cinema, having managed a Masters degree some time ago which only narrowly avoided killing my enthusiasm for the subject. But I still love cinema, film, the movies, pictures, flicks or whatever you call it/them – because they still manage to fill me with wonder and excitement. The same goes for video games, books, heavy metal music and to a degree, the England cricket team. I’d be very interested in commissions relating to any of these subjects – especially film (Contact me using the form below).
‘You gotta have rules’ said Kevin Bacon in child-abuse flick Sleepers. He was right, for the wrong reasons, but he was right. Without a bit of structure I struggle to get any writing done and I do like writing. Chris Vs Cinema is the best structure I’ve ever had and it pleases me that I came up with it myself. So I’ve made a set of rules, set a challenge (which I will struggle to achieve) and started improving my writing in what seems like the best way – practice. I really hope that repeatedly writing and working on written expression like this will one day lead to me being able to do this as a sideline to my main job. That’s the long-term aim. My writing isn’t particularly robust though – I require the help of the people who read this, I need constructive criticism, I need to be challenged to see if I can back-up my assertions and to see if I really do have the courage of my convictions. That is why I need more comments from the people reading – that’s you.
